I agree, there was some very real tension. It makes for a tough mix because you have the more militant Mccain people and then the more peaceful but angry about the war Obama supporters. The most interesting moment that I had was standing dead center on South Ave facing the court house as mobs of people started slowly exiting the event. I had a ticket, (and a red shirt), so I was able to be "in" the event. Each sidewalk on either side of me had railed fencing that allowed 'outsiders' to come up about one block from the court house, but not into the steet. Behind that fencing on each side of the street- were the Obama masses! They were armed and ready with all kinds of signs and chants.

I had over 650 of my mini wallet handout, packed in 15 pouches that I made out of cut up file folders and tape... message as seen here...

I stood there in the middle of the road, in the middle of the event, facing the courthouse as the McCain supports started streaming out and on each side of me- On my right, I had a stream of mccainer's and past them were lines of cops, then the fence and then the Obama supports. On my left, was the same thing- stream of McCainers, cops, fence, Obamans. For a period of over 30 minutes straight, I stood there with my red shirt and a great big smile on my face handing out my "Information on how we can get cheaper energy".

The entire time both parties were heckling each other, sometimes very badly. With my big smile, and laughing with the rest of the group at those silly Obama supporters on the outside, in my red shirt, right there in the middle McCainers, I was able to hand out over 400 of the mini-papers; the vast majority of the McCainers thought the message was great- they had no idea what it was really saying about their candidate. That this information about how we can get cheaper energy was leading them right into the site, which has since been re-ordered to make it funnel from a 'party ambiguous' pro inexpensive energy, then into the facts and leading people to the truth that stands in their way of the very energy that they were so excited to go to the site to learn more about.

The absolute best moment of the entire event was when I asked 4 different McCain/Palin button wearing, 18-20somethings who really loved the handout- if they would like to help me hand them out. Well, they really did like the message a lot..... and wouldn't you know it.....

My god, words cannot describe how great of a feeling it was to see these McCain supporters out there really fighting for what they believe in, passing out the very information that will lead people to the truth about him voing against Alternate Energy all 8 times if came to the floor (&) the rest of the proof on the site that McCain/Palin "IS" BigOil.

In that moment, the term 'blind partisan' came to mind. It's term I may use again. After one group of giggling girls with their "YouGoGirl" Palin buttons handed out my GreedyOilPoliticians.com papers with me, I looked at their happy little faces and asked, "Doesn't it feel great to be out here getting such a wonderful message across"?

They smiled, and blushed, and cheered, "YES!, Yes it really does!"

You bet it does.... Oh,...... you bet it does!

Thanks Pat!

I noticed that Tom Fiedman, NYT writer, is mentioned at the GOP site. I read him every chance I get and tried to see him last week at World Affairs Council in Philly but tickets were soldout. I am halfway through his book The World is Flat and intend to read Hot,Flat, Crowded. I recommend his books & articles. They are more positive in tone. He does provide a grim description of the state of affairs but does provide some useful, positive ideas to act on. He also has a WEB site, of course, that provides forum for discussion and speaking calendar. I hear he is an excellent speaker and I really want to catch him the next time he's in town.

Best,
Nino

I agree Nino, he does an excellent job of getting the key points across. When I heard his interview on NPR about his new book, my hope was so much revived that he is actually the inspiration for me start to adding to the site again. In the first 5 minutes of the NPR interview, he voiced more of the facts and angles that I had found in my research than I had heard from any single source before.

A huge part of my frustrations has been finding and verifying so much of this information that I've come across, but not hearing anyone else in the Media bringing up to these points and connecting them. For over a year I have been researching the AltEnergy/oil/political landscape probably on average at least 30 mins a day. Larry I'm sure knows this as last year ( and ever since ;-P ) I've emailed/posted to him and a different group many of the exact same viewpoints as Friedman. So, when I heard his interview, I felt more relief than I have felt in months... perhaps since my first rant about it 1 year ago which, while brazen (and, well, angry) was eerily similar to what I heard in his NPR interview. Something similar happened with his first book. Same wavelength & just common sense...? I think it's just common sense+research = same wavelength.

Freidman's timing is impeccable. While I'm not what one might call religious- thank GOD for this man! Even with the economy in shambles, I still think that the Energy issue the best way that we can win this election. By following Freidman's lead (and perhaps by taking an angel something like the site has??) we can make repubs see that alt energy is cheaper (without mentioning the environment), educate them, then show them with empirical evidence what is standing the way of this cheaper energy. That greatly weakens "Drill Baby Drill", which as we can all conclude, is a perfectly calculated very well placed catchy phrase- by the oil industry. They placed those signs in the convention and planted the people with the chant. The number of people with buttons at the event with "Drill Baby Drill" buttons astounded me. THAT- is what we need to crack-- if we can crack Drill Baby Drill- we crack McOil. The site, as you know, cracks Drill Baby Drill

The NPR interview can be found on the site.
